l suspected the problem was this Passlock crap that GM thought would reduce car theft, but the local Saturn dealership insists it is the starter/ignition switch and hosing me out of $600..l realize I am not the only person on earth with car trouble, but l wonder, will the switch and starter fix this?? Mechanics please!!!

l am not a mechanic, but a 2003 Ion (x2) owner. l chose not to have mine looked at when we lived in the colder East Coast.. but this happened frequently. It also happened on my mother is 2001 LS. She traded it in because after the 2000 Model years came out all Saturns appeared to have turned to crap. We have had nothing but problems with one of our Ions & it was another $1200 Christmas present for the car this year. Wo not do another that is for sure.

l would try a new key first and the if the theft light is coming on just replace the cylinder!
