OK, A.S.E. mechanics can not figure this out, lets see what you have to say. Over all the vehicle is a great running car, good mileage, plenty of power. Sporadically it stalls, this usually happens when l let off the fuel pedal. It is not the fuel pump or filter, they are both new and it usually starts right back up again. Once it took a few minutes, but it did start and ran fine.There is no pattern to this problem and just happens whenever.
hmmm another thing it does is buck a little. not always but some times when l let off the throttle it bucks.
it does this under power. not when stopped. Usually on the freeway.

Sounds like a faulty ignition module. (it sits under the coil pack)

if it happens more after the car is warmed up its probably the ignition module, could also be the crank sensor, they break off of their bracket & move around, i've also seem tp sensors cause that & possible a patially plugged IAC motor passage can cause it too, but the most common thing i've seen on a 3.8 is the ignition module will get hot & momentarily loose it is crank sensor signal long enough for the car to stall out & as soon as the car stalls it will cool off enough that it will regain it is signal, then sporadically loose it again, 3.8 is r notorious for burning out modules, i've found though that it happens more when the cars warmed up.

If ur car stalls out when u come to a complete stop & it jerks a little then stalls out that is a mechanically Problem the Toque Converter is staying engaged.It could also be a torn Bellow between the mass air flow meter & the throttle body.or u can do what they call a wiggle test that is when u leave ur engine running & wiggle the wires but be very careful not to get ur hand in any moving parts. l hope this works good luck.

Sounds like a crankshaft position sensor. The 3.8 engine is known for this. If you can get it to stall a shop, have them blow cold air on it. Or if there was a leaking water pump 1 time, the coolant gets in the sensor.
