It would start sometimes and other times it wont. Now it wont start at all. The guages say that l have gas and the voltage meter is fine, the starter is turning but it just wont fire.

The only way to tell for sure is to use a fuel pressure test.

spray starting fluid in it, if it cranks. it is the fuel pump , if it doesnt it is the module in the distributor

Sure sounds like the fuel pump to me! For some reason those GMC/Chevys like their fuel pumps! We've had them act like yours did, and some that you just turned 'em off and that was it! But I'd still take one over a Ford any day!

Try this cheap diagnosis. Have a buddy lie on the ground w/ a good sized rubber mallet. While you crank the engine have your ''assistant'' whack the fuel tank a few times. If the engine fires up, you need a new fuel pump/sending unit. Hope this helps. Note: even though the engine starts, your concern still exists. Have the concern properly diagnosed and repaired.

l had the same thing happen on my 94 ford, it ended up being the positive wire going from the inertia switch back to the fuel pump. run a new one and make sure you seal all the connections

Could have a plugged fuel filter and/or a vacuum leak to the fuel pressure regulator.
