The dash lights up, but there is absolutely no sound coming from the engine bay.I am thinking it may be the ignition switch, but I'd like someone is opinion (I am a weekend warrior, not a mechanic, but I am pretty good.).Also l know it is notthe alternator, l replaced that last year.Will l need to remove the steering wheel to get to the switch (and how hard is that?)

NEVER replace any part till u KNOW the problem. Why do weekend ''mekaniks'' start by changing every part that is in sight. l would suggest u do the simple things first. l would suggest, going by ur diagnosis of what it is not, That u get a battery brush, remove the battery terminals & clean the terminals & posts till they shine. Put 'em back nice & snug & problem should be all gone. Make sure ur battery has a minimum of 13 volts. You should have a volt/ohm meter in ur war chest. A full battery will read 13.5 volts with key off. If less than 13 volt then u have a battery problem considering ur alt. is putting out 14.5 volts min. Do ur diagnostics & testing before replacing parts. Good luck
