my 91 gmc pick up stearring wheele is loose whats the problem and how do i fix it

the steering wheele moves side to side about 3 or 4 inches still stears fine but l know it wont pass inspection and l wouldnt want it to anyway

steering column has a U bolt or 2 that is fastened to the bottom of the intrument panel. In you case, NOT. That is my guess of where l would look first

Go to a Midas, or any other shop that will look at the steering components and give you a free estimate.

But it sounds to me like the Pittman arm.

tilt steering is loose has bolts inside column tio tighten up
