95 grand am quad four 5speed it grinds when u put it in second but not in morning for the first 10 shifts

Change tranny fluid.

Check your transmission fluid. Filler up that should do the trick

This sounds like a manual & a synchronizer problem. If the oil has an affect it would be because when it is cold, hence lest viscus u get enough lubrication to smooth the gear mesh. Or it is something to do with ur initial driving habits.

You can try changing oil & ask them to strain it looking for metal bits. Probably though u have a hefty repair bill ahead.

En the interim, when u shift into second, hesitate in the neutral gate, release & reapply the clutch, then shift into second. This is called double clutching & probably will eliminate the grinding.
