Of the GM engines, in the mid-late 90 is which is the stronger, longerlasting motor?

In terms of strength, l would say that the 2.4L is stronger because of the larger displacement.

l am not sure how long either engine would last, or which one is more durable, however, GM makes pretty solid engines going way back. The most important component in owning one of these versions is preventative maintenance. You can certainly make the engine last for 200,000K +++ miles if you do it right.

I've had both in grand ams both were excellent motors.

Actually the 2.2 is far better in my opinion. Its more common of the 2 and we sell some but get many more calls for the 2.4 that is not as common. The 2.4 is also way more money to repair, for a used engine they run about a grand as opposed to the 2.2 for half that.
