My car has started stuttering when im stopped but the car is in gear. the check engine light came on so l went to auto zone and got it tested with their computers and they said that cylinder 2 was misfiring and to change the spark plugs which l did it seemed to help a little bit but the check engine light came back on and it gets really bad when l turn on the air conditioner when stopped it will stutter and eventually completely die why is it doing this what could l do to stop this l need my ac l live in texas :( please help me out

Lift the distributor cap and check the points. The contact for that cylinder may be burnt. Also the wire from the distributor to the plug may be bad. Most of these wires have a carbon core which may be cracked or broken.

do not listen to mr henry s. G M autos have not had points since about 1975, and no distributor since about 1995. You said you changed spark plugs, but what about plug wires/ insulators? (one or the other not both) Also, you may have a bad coil pack (that is what replaced distributor caps)or a bad ignition control module. Some of these parts are pricey to replace on a hunch, you might want to see a mechanic
