What problems can l expect

Pretty reliable, check the oil for water. This probably has the northstar engine which is a great engine, but some did have water leak issues.

l would avoid it. Cadillac had a bad streak of cars for a few years from the early-mid 90's. Go with something a little less luxurious and with less mileage.

As a 7-to-8-year-old model, Consumer Reports' gave the Cadillac DeVille Much-Worse-Than-Average reliability ratings in the following categories:

Air Conditioning
Brakes

and gave the DeVille Worse-Than-Average reliability ratings in the following categories:

Engine
Engine Cooling
Fuel system
Electrical system
Suspension
Power Equipment.

It had above average reliability in only 3 categories - Exhaust, Paint/Trim, & Body Integrity.

As it is now 13-to-14 years old, problems may be many & expensive.

The question u should ask is what problems should not u expect, becuase almost everything is likely to go wrong. The Northstar didnt appear in Devilles until '96, & those have their fair share of issues, but the 95 is had the anemic 4.9 liter V8. You can expect the transmission to give u trouble, the electrical is likely in disrepair (depends where u live), & anyhting else u can imagine. Plus, most of the shadetree mechanics that claim to know how to work on them r usually lost. Keep looking. All of those older sedans will give u problems.
