because they are not as good and run on gas as long as most of them they are just now beginning to get them samller and running but also they made a movie long while ago and the gm people did not have the car out when the movie was made and its been several years l heard it is ocmig out 09 wow how stupid. they lost all those sales someone is not thinking too well l believe that is management.

they are overpriced and historically less reliable than the imports.

Unions have killed US auto makers.

Because many of them have so many problems that GM then does not stand behind. If GM actually built a good car, one with few major problems that did not break down quickly, with decent gas mileage instead of the lame excuse of MPG they currently get without major downsizing the size of the car, built them in American instead of using cheap labor while paying their union employees well above the standard, then & only then would l consider buying one. Who wants a pintsized tin can that still only gets 25-30 MPG? They had the Metro that got 55 MPG, & they messed with it, turned into a typical 4 cycl. that got only about 35 MPG & then scaped it.

l think the crux of the matter lies in the fact that American auto manufacturers have always been unionized. Unionization leads to lower quality product. Mind you, GM, Chrysler and Ford have been putting out higher quality products in recent years in order to compete with Japanese companies.

$60,000 trucks and 40,000 dollar cars ,NO THANKS.Have you noticed ,bicycles have gone up about 50% ? We are parked till the price comes down.Time to cut the CEO bonus.

True Americans do. GM has been around for years & has provided billions upon billions of taxes, wages, benefits, donations, freebies, support to the American public. Anyone who disses American car companies is biting their noses to spite their faces. Allowing any of the Big 3 to fail would wreak havoc on an already failing American economy.

GM & the other American automakers have brought back dependability & value to their small & middle size car lines. Malibu is rated higher than the imports. The full size GM pickups r the highest rated mpg trucks of their size & have the best resale value of that segment.

A lot of fluff has been put out by people who have never owned a GM product or has only owned a very well used one & they had problems so they diss American made products. Sad, but true. GM trucks r as good or better than any in the world & as a whole (GMC/Chevrolet) have outsold all other trucks forever.

Any model or brand can have a bad vehicle, even the Toys if u look online u will find this out. Foreign owners r the last to admit it though.

A lot of foreign labor is prison, children, underpaid, overworked & yet some people in the U.S. support these companies? You have to wonder why? Peace.

Because as consumers become more informed they realize that the biggest part of their purchasing dollar is going to overpaid CEO is & Union workers & not into the product.
When one can get more value for less money, which car do u think they r going to buy? The only reason that l own a GM product is because the Import dealers r to far away to make that choice practical. If l lived closer to an urban centre l would be driving an Import.
As it is my Chevy Malibu is nearing the end of it is warranty period & l have an outstanding issue with this car. GM is only offering so far has been to offer me extended warranty at my expense. This is a design flaw in the car & they expect me to pay for it! And that is a PRIMARY reason why l will not buy another product from them ever again.

Many Americans wo not buy cars by General Motors for quite a number of reasons, some of which are:

1. General Motors dominated Consumer Reports' 2008 list of the Least Reliable Vehicles, accounting for 30% of the entries on the list.

2. General Motors dominated Consumer Reports' 2008 list of the Worst of the Worst, accounting for 58% of the the entries on the list.

3. General Motors dominated Consumer Reports' 2008 list of Used Cars to Avoid, accounting for 41% of the entries on the list.

4. General Motors dominated AutoOnInfo.net is list of the Worst Automobiles of 2008, accounting for 30% of the entries on the list.

5. General Motors dominated AutoOnInfo.net 2008 list of the Automobiles with Worst Engine Reliability, accounting for 43% of the entries on the list.

6. General Motors dominated AutoOnInfo.net 2008 list of the Automobiles with Worst Transmission Reliability, accounting for 32% of the entries on the list.

7. General Motors dominates Consumer Reports' 2009 list of the Least Reliable Vehicles, accounting for 33% of the entries on the list.

8. General Motors dominates AutoOnInfo.net is list of the Worst Automobiles of 2009, accounting for 32% of the entries on the list.

9. All of General Motors' lines have a 2009 Composite Reliability Average much lower than Hyundai is & even lower than Kia's.

10. General Motors' 5-year Reliability Percentrank average is .31. For reference, Ford is is .50, Nissan is is .70, Honda is is .84, & Toyota is is .89.

And here r a couple additional reasons:

11. AutoOnInfo.net is detailed reliability & durability studies suggest that a typical 3-year-old General Motors vehicle will be about as troublesome to own as a typical 19-year-old Toyota vehicle & a typical 26-year-old Honda vehicle, & a typical 5-year-old General Motors vehicle will be about as troublesome to own as a typical 25-year-old Toyota vehicle & a typical 35-year-old Honda vehicle. See the following pages on the AutoOnInfo.net website (both have the suffix .htm ):

DurabilityInformationPage11
DurabilityInformationPage12 .

12. The reliability gap between 6-to-8-year-old Toyota vehicles & 6-to-8-year-old GM vehicles has increased from a spread of .54, on a scale 2 units wide, at the end of the 1980s to a spread of .84 at the end of the 1990s. See the following page on the AutoOnInfo.net website (without the space & with the .htm suffix):

Domestic cars, not just General Motors but also Ford and the rest of them have a bad reputation of being undependable cars.
but to me any car is undependable if you mistreat it..
l always say,''take care of your car and it will take care of you''
domestic or import.
