Where l live there is alot of salt along with the snow. im afraid my rims will rust or worst, ive heard of them start to peel off.. ive asked many people what l should do to avoid this but l wasnt more opinions... a few said to put oil on them justuntill it clears up.. the only question l forgot to ask them was what kind of oil?? like oilyou put in a vehicle or like a veg oil- cooking?? help me out please its a 2001 grandam gt .. thanks

Putting on any type of oil on the wheels will not help with the salt problem.The main thing to do is not let the salt stay on the wheels for a extended period of time.Stopping by a car wash & using a pressure washer on the wheels & wheel well areas keeps the salt damage at bay.This should be done every other week.When the weather get warmer use a none abrasive chrome cleaner & wax like mothers (which is a brand name) to clean & polish the wheels.This will keep the wheels looking great for years to come.Best of luck.
